Film and Video Work
Director
One Man’s Trash - 2014
16 Minutes
One Man’s Trash was a six-month capstone project from script to screen. I co-wrote the screenplay with Jack Pangborn and assembled a high-level team, including a producer, editor, cinematographer, and screenwriter. Each department managed a team of 2–10 people during the week-long shoot.
I led our successful IndieGoGo campaign, raising over $2,000, and designed the social media graphics to support fundraising efforts. Additionally, I organized auditions and collaborated with my producer to develop shot lists and the shooting schedule. Throughout production, I provided creative direction to ensure my vision for the film was realized.
The film received 5 student awards and has screened at the Heights Theatre, Walker Art Center, Comic Con, and a few national film festivals.
The Notepad - 2014
6 Minutes
The Notepad was a 3 month project from script to screen. I am most proud of using super 16mm to shoot this film. I worked closely with our producer to secure filming locations. The art department went above and beyond turning an empty conference room into a lived in office for the film. The pool scenes were filmed with the original GoPros. I co-wrote this film with Jack Pangborn. It’s the 2nd film with this crew.
This film was shown in exhibition at the Riverview Theater in south Minneapolis.
Poker Night - 2013
4 Minutes
This short film was my final project in my first year of film school, with the challenge of telling a story without dialogue. It was also the first time I collaborated with the cast and crew who would become my filmmaking family for future projects.
As the sole filmmaker, I took on multiple roles—screenwriter, director, camera operator, and editor. Filming was completed in a single evening, and the editing process took two weeks.
The film was selected for the student showcase and shown in an exhibition at the Riverview Theatre in south Minneapolis.
Camera Operator
Access to Democracy - 2014
30 Minutes
Access to Democracy is a local access program in the Twin Cities Metro of Minnesota that is currently in it’s 26th year.
I took an internship under Alan Miller during the summer of 2014 and worked various jobs in the live broadcast studio inside of the Thompson Reuters building in Eagan, MN. I worked as a camera operator as well as a grip/gaffer/sound recordist.
Ded Drums Promo - 2013
4 Minutes
Ded Drums is a local drummer and drum maker, and this video highlights his unique playing style on his handmade drum kit, which he sells locally.
This project was an opportunity to showcase my camera skills, blending dolly shots with a "run-and-gun" filmmaking approach. While tripods and dollies provide stability, I believe handheld cinematography adds a uniquely human touch that can't be replicated by software. This project serves as a great example of the impact camera placement has on storytelling.
$Bags “Take Me Home” - 2014
4 Minutes
I filmed B-Side footage for this music video. My footage focuses around animals, planes, and trains.
Additionally, I was a grip/gaffer for the rest of the scenes.
Ghost of Lovers Yet to Come
4 Minutes
I received my nickname “Dutch Lightning” from my use of Dutch angles and creating the practical FX for the “lightning” featured in the film.
This film taught me the importance of organizing my shooting schedule around locations and availability vs. attempting to shoot chronologically as I had in the past.
PONX ON THE BUS “Music Video”
4 Minutes
This video was a practice in capturing the moment as well as editing to match the singing and music track. Filmed over the course of 1 night, we followed the party with our cameras, stopping the band occasionally to get the “sync” footage we needed.
This music video documents the punk scene that is so vibrant in the Twin Cities music scene.
Production Roles
“Last War” Music Video - 2014
HALEY is a local musician in the Minneapolis area who has reached national acclaim.
This was my first of many P.A. roles for Daniel Huiting who is one of the more prolific music video makers of the modern era.
I was utilized in many ways over this shoot.
I provided craft services and gaffing duties as well as location work and set documentation.
American Beast - Sound - 2014
Feature Film
James Erikson begins a journey to discover the truth behind a mysterious creature that haunts the woods in the small town of Solitude.
I recorded 1 day of dialogue and folie audio for 5 scenes.
Pair O’ Medics - Actor
4 Minutes
While I am most useful behind the camera or “behind the scenes” I still enjoy the craft of acting and this is still one of my favorite roles.
This is a love letter to slap stick greats of the black and white era. I hope you enjoy this one purely for fun.
